Born July 15, 1928, in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, Bob passed away June 6, 2025 in Indianapolis, Indiana. Bob was the second of seven children of Harvey Ross and Rosalee Mattox Ross. He is survived by his daughter Peggy Ross Davant (Harry) of Sarasota, Florida, and sons Robert E. Ross (Kandi) of Ft. Wayne, Indiana and Kirk M. Ross (Sally) of Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Bob was also survived by his sister Susan Smith of Stanwood, Washington and brothers William B. Ross of Shorewood, Wisconsin and Harvey Ross of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He will be especially missed by his four grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his ex-wife Wilma Eaglin Ross and sisters Sheila Estes, Shirley Fieler and Sharon Broughton. In addition to his family, Bob will be missed by his high school classmate Margaret (Pat) Busse and her two daughters. Bob and Pat re-friended at their 60th high school reunion and have been special friends for the past 18 years.
After graduating from Lawrenceburg High School in 1946, Bob served a two-year enlistment in the US Navy. He attended Hanover College 1948- 1951 and graduated from the Indiana University School of Business in 1968. During his 41-year professional career which began with American Electric Power Company in 1951, he was responsible for the development and management of electric power systems and operations. After leaving AEP in 1972, he went on to work for the New England Energy Policy in Boston, and helped develop and manage new electrical operation systems in Lakeland, FL and Bloomington, IN. In 1982, Bob was named Director of Operations for Seminole Electric Company in Tampa until his retirement in 1993. Bob was an active leader in the Boy Scouts of America and took pride in coaching both of this sons Little League teams. Later in life, Bob worked with the Hillsboro County Literary Council and volunteered helping seniors prepare their tax returns. He enjoyed painting, writing, completing the New York Times crossword puzzles and beating most everyone at trivia.
