Ruth Ann Vennemann, 90, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away on March 19, 2026. Born December 5, 1935, in Cincinnati, Ohio, Ruth was the beloved and selfless daughter of the late Walter and Christine J. (Neyer) Koenig. After her introduction, Ruth will be remembered simply as Ruth—steady in faith, generous in spirit, and devoted to those she loved.
Ruth built a life defined by dedication to both family and community. She worked as a Branch Manager for Indiana National Bank and their successors while raising and enriching six children, meeting the demands of work and home with quiet strength and unwavering care.
A dedicated member of St. Luke Catholic Church since 1967, Ruth gave of herself freely. At St. Luke, she served as a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader and was a regular volunteer for many parish functions, including fostering a deeper personal relationship with God through hours of Adoration. Ruth was also a dedicated member of Altrusa International, a foundation committed to improving economic well-being and quality of life through community service and literacy. She was also a familiar face through her volunteer work with the Society of St. Vincent de Paul.
Ruth found joy in simple, meaningful pleasures and in making others feel at home. She was an accomplished baker of fruit pies and other sweets and never allowed someone to go home hungry. An avid reader and crossword puzzle solver, she kept her mind sharp and her curiosity alive. She enjoyed playing cards with friends and regular trips to the library. In retirement, she enjoyed line dancing and travel, including trips to Alaska, Hawaii, England, and the Panama Canal.
Ruth was preceded in death by former husband P. Joseph Vennemann; daughter Patricia M. Vennemann; daughter Maureen Vedder; son Paul Vennemann; sister Jeannie; sister Margie; brother Bob; sister Helen; and sister-in-law Teri Koenig.
Ruth is survived by son Joe Vennemann; son Michael Vennemann (Mary); daughter Mary Beth Vennemann; son-in-law Steve Vedder; brother Tom Koenig; grandchildren Jason Vedder (Amanda), Kathleen Vedder - Miller (P.J.), Meredith Vedder, Jack Vennemann, Sam Fields, Andy Vennemann, Matt Vennemann and Brian Vennemann, and great-grandchildren Nathan Vedder, Olivia Vedder, Charlotte Miller, Walter Miller, and Zach Vedder.
