Stephen D. Pickett

Stephen D. Pickett, 81, passed away peacefully on December 27th. He was born in July 1944 to the late Dr. Robert D. Pickett and Genevieve Pickett. Stephen had worked in the commercial insurance business his entire career. In addition to working with insurance companies and agencies, he was at one-time an owner of an independent agency. He was a Marine Corp veteran who served in combat in Vietnam and was a member of the Scottish Rite and Murat Shrine. He enjoyed IMS and Indycar, having previously served on the 500 Festival board. He was also a gentleman farmer who loved his farm in Putnam County where he enjoyed working and playing with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Stephen is survived by his wonderful wife, Kim; son Chris (Brenda) Pickett; stepson Justin (Kellie) Burger; grandchildren Trent Schlafer, Sydney (Jaycee) Jensen, Elizabeth Pickett, Samuel Pickett Damien Burger; great-grandchildren Emerson and Ellie. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Laura.

A visitation will be held on January 3, 2026, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Leppert Mortuary - Nora Chapel, located at 740 East 86th St, Indianapolis, IN 46240. Steve's funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm. Private interment will be at Crown Hill Cemetery.
