Steven earned a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Iowa State University, a foundation that shaped a life of steady purpose and disciplined work. His engineering career reflected both precision and dedication, including work on the 1969 NASA Apollo program in Cleveland, OH. He later spent 22 years with Rolls-Royce, retiring in 2007.
On June 13, 1970, Steven married Martha Megyimori, and together they built a family life grounded in commitment and enduring love.
Steven was a member of St. Alphonsus Liguori Catholic Church. He was also an active member of the Austin Healey Club and The Scientech Club, communities where his interest in engineering and craftsmanship found fellowship and shared enthusiasm.
Steven is survived by his wife, Martha Berenyi; his daughter, Eva Heath (Stephen), grandchildren Matthew, John, and Katalin (Katy); his son, Steven Berenyi (Gwen), grandchildren Megan and Amelia (Mia); his brother, Tibor (Ted) Berenyi; and his sister, Katalin (Katy) Steinborn (Warren), nephew Michael. He was preceded in death by his father, Tibor Berenyi, and his mother, Katalin Berenyi.
Visitation will be held at Leppert Mortuary - Nora, 740 East 86th St., Indianapolis, IN 46240, on Friday, October 2, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Visitation will also be held at St. Alphonsus Liguori Roman Catholic Church, 1870 W. Oak St., Zionsville, IN 46077, on Saturday, October 3, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Alphonsus Liguori Roman Catholic Church on October 3, 2026 at 10:55 am.
Steven will be laid to rest at Zionsville Cemetery, 10555 Zionsville Rd. in Zionsville.
