Steve was a devoted follower of Christ, beloved husband, proud father, creator, skateboarder, and encourager whose greatest joy was the life he built with his family. He shared 23 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Heather, and together they raised two children, Ethan and Eva, surrounding them with love, laughter, encouragement, and unwavering support.
Steve believed life was meant to be lived with faith, curiosity, courage, and joy. While many people slow down with age, Steve chose to embrace new challenges. At age 50, he rediscovered a passion from his teenage years when he stepped back onto a skateboard after decades away. What began as a return to an old hobby became an extraordinary new chapter in his life.
Through his YouTube channel, Steve’s Skate Explosion, he documented every success, setback, fall, and breakthrough with honesty, humility, and humor. His journey inspired thousands of people around the world, reminding them that it is never too late to rediscover a passion, embrace new challenges, and keep moving forward.
Steve had a gift for making people smile. Whether through a quick joke, a word of encouragement, or simply being willing to laugh at himself, he made others feel welcome. He cherished traveling with his family, creating lasting memories with Heather, Ethan, and Eva, and finding joy in everyday adventures. A lifelong reader with an insatiable curiosity, Steve especially treasured sharing his love of books with Eva, a passion first nurtured by his mother, Suzanne, a published romance author.
Those who knew Steve knew a man of deep faith. His confidence rested in Jesus Christ, and his family finds comfort in the promise of eternal life and the hope that this goodbye is only temporary.
Even in death, Steve continued to serve others. Through organ donation, his final act was one of extraordinary generosity, giving the gift of life to others. It was a reflection of the selfless way he sought to live.
Steve is survived by his loving wife, Heather Guntrum; his son, Ethan Guntrum; and his daughter, Eva Guntrum.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Suzanne Guntrum, and his father, Robert Ray Guntrum.
A private celebration of Steve’s life for family and close friends will be held at a future date.
The family is deeply grateful for the love, prayers, and support shown by Steve’s family, friends, viewers, and the skateboarding community during this difficult time.
