

Thomas “Tom” Coppens was born in Mishawaka, Indiana, on October 29, 1940, to the late Achiel and Delphine (Labro) Coppens. On October 5, 1963, Tom married Judith Kusz in South Bend.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Judith Coppens (nee Kusz); son, Michael (Paula) Coppens of Indianapolis, IN; daughter, Amy Wolf of Indianapolis, IN; grandchildren, Tyler (Lauren) Coppens and Emily (Collin) Brinker both of Newburgh, IN, and Kate Wolf and Jack Wolf both of Indianapolis, IN; great grandchildren, James Brinker and Piper Coppens, both of Newburgh, IN; and sister, Sylvia Kanczuzewski of Cassopolis, MI.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Adrienne Coppens.
Tom was a 1958 graduate of Mishawaka High School and served 4 years in the U.S. Navy. He worked as a precision machinist for many years at The Torrington Company and finally retired from Timken.
Tom was a loyal fan of Notre Dame Football and the Chicago Bears. He would spend hours in his workshop creating and repairing anything and everything. He maintained many bird houses and bird/wildlife feeders. He also enjoyed weekend travels to visit his kids and grandkids.
The family would like to thank the staff of Traditions at North Willow for their wonderful care of Tom over the past several years.
Cremation has taken place. Private services and burial will be held at a later date.
