Tyler was born on August 18th, 1992 in Kalamazoo, Michigan. When he was 7, his family moved to Indianapolis where he attended The Orchard School, Creekside Middle School and Carmel High School. There he enjoyed playing basketball and made close friends he still has today. In his adult life Tyler moved to Florida but eventually returned to Indianapolis.
His Sister Ashlie remembers her brother as funny, loyal and kind hearted. As he was not a fan of flying, he drove all the way to Florida last winter to attend her wedding. He then turned around and made the 16 hour return trip to Indiana. He was not going to miss standing up with her for anything.
Sadie describes him as funny, witty, curious and helpful. She recalls the many hours spent practicing basketball outside during the Indiana winter, even running the ball under hot water when it got too cold to bounce and heading back out to continue their playing. He was always there to encourage her love of the game but more importantly was never too busy to spend time with her. Their love of sports also expanded to the golf course, where they played round after round together over the years.
Tyler's youngest sister Chloe sums him up best by describing her brother as “The most loving person I know. He never asked about my wrongs, but always wanted to know about my dreams”
Our annual Christmas get together was planned in detail last December. We had rented a bus to see all the lights in the city and have a nice dinner along the way. What we received instead was a big winter storm with lots of snow. Everyone bundled up in what snowsuits we could find and spent the day sledding on N. Pennsylvania street, building snowmen and having snowball fights. This unexpected turn of events created joyous memories that we will cherish for a lifetime. All of these descriptions and stories show the heart of who Tyler really was. A big hearted person who loved nothing more than being with his family!
Tyler was interned on August 30th in the columbarium at the chapel on Northport Point, Michigan; the place he loved more than any other. His family held a private service and spent the day celebrating his life. It is where they will return each summer surrounded by the lake, the waves and the freedom he loved so much. Each day we will envision him waverunning across the clouds instead of his beloved Northport Bay.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Indianapolis Humane Society or the charity of your choice in Tylers name.
