

73 years old, of Indianapolis, departed this life peacefully at her home on Tuesday, December 20, 2022. Vicki was born January 18, 1949 in Indianapolis to the late Richard E. & Joan (Connelly) Albert. She grew up and attended schools in Broad Ripple and was a graduate of Immaculate Heart of Mary School, where she was a star kickball player, and Bishop Chatard High School where she made life-long friends. She then attended Purdue University.
Vicki married Bob Gangstad in Indianapolis 52 years ago. She worked most of her life as Office Manager and Secretary/Treasurer for the family’s construction company, Sweeney Construction Corp. She managed the family’s rental property business while raising a family. Vicki had a dry sense of humor and was an avid reader of crime (Hammett, Hillerman, Child), mystery (Christie, Doyle, Lehane), and spy novels (Le Carre, Ludlum, Higgins). She never passed on regular trips to Las Vegas (slot machines, Big Elvis, David Copperfield, Trent Carlini, the Venetian) and Sanibel Island (beautiful sunsets, Mucky Duck, grouper sandwiches, manatees, walks to the lighthouse) with her family.
Vicki is survived by her beloved husband of 52 years, Bob Gangstad, son, Michael (Kimberly) Gangstad; grandson, Clayton Gangstad; son Joseph (Danielle Turnak) Gangstad; grandchildren, Andrew & Katrina Gangstad; siblings, Mark (Marcia) Albert, Janice (Ricardo) Ros & Gretchen (Jim) Stewart; nieces & nephews, Kristen (Michael) Diggins, Alexandra Stewart, Andrew Stewart, Stephanie (Noriel) Ros, Gabriella Ros, John (Jenna) Albert, Patrick (Roxanne) Albert and Claire Albert. Her in-laws included Susan (Roger) Davis, Jack (Debbie) Gangstad, Nancy (Randy) Racine, and Dave (Laura) Gangstad. Nieces and nephews included Hugh (Anna) Davis, Owen Davis, Sarah Trostle, Betsy (Matt) Poland, Scott (Jill) Racine, Todd (Kim) Racine, Hilary (Matt) Harris, Lindsey (Brian) Elskus, and Erik (Kendall Querry) Gangstad.
A celebration of life memorial will be held for Vicki Sunday, February 19th from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm at The Northside Events and Social Club (formerly Northside K of C), 2100 E. 71st Street, Indianapolis, IN.
