Amazing teacher, artist, cook, gardener, wife, mother, mother-in-law and grandmother, Vicki (Hamilton) Lebherz passed away peacefully, on April 27, 2026, following complications from a stroke suffered just five days before. In that Vicki was facing the difficult future that accompanies Alzheimer’s Disease, just as her mother and sister did before her, her stroke and passing were a blessing that she would not have to endure that same journey.
Vicki was a graduate of Ball State, with a Master’s degree from Butler University, and it was at Ball State that she first met her future husband of almost 55 years, Kent Lebherz. Many have said over the years that these two were “absolutely made for each other”, and in fact, many came to thinking of, and referring to them, as just collectively “Kent & Vicki”, as opposed to either “Kent “ or “Vicki” individually. It was a beautiful love story.
Son, Josh, joined the family in 1974, much loved Jill as his wife in 2013, and grandsons Everett and Walter in 2014 and 2017. Nothing meant more to Vicki than family, and her life was filled with a million family, school and athletic events for first Josh, and more recently Ev and Walt. Whether in Indianapolis, at the lake, or on our beloved Anna Maria Island in Florida, no one could ask for a more loving and caring wife, mother, mother-in-law, or grandmother (or “G” as she was known to her grandsons who meant the world to her). She loved her family so much, and was so proud of everyone within it.
Beautiful inside and out, kind, loving, caring, warm, sweet, gracious, fun and special, are all words lovingly used to describe Vicki in notes already received since her passing…all of which capture her so well, and that also show the impact she has had on others. She will be missed terribly, but she is now at peace, and therefore we, the family, are as well.
She is preceded in death by her mother and father, Guy and Evelyn Hamilton, brothers Richard, Don and Davey Hamilton, and sister Jo Ann Blann.
There will be no service or calling, but a “Celebration of Life” is being planned for this summer. For those who would like to make a contribution in her honor, please do so to the Alzheimer’s Association, ( https://www.alz.org/ ) , 225 N. Michigan Ave., Floor 17, Chicago, IL, 60601.
