Wilbur Earl Raymer, 98, of Indianapolis, died January 23, 2022. He was born December 27, 1923 to the late Cephus and Floy Raymer in Beaver Dam, Kentucky. He was a faithful member of the Traders Point Church of Christ.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in Europe during World War II, participating with the Big Red 1 field-artillery in the Normandy Invasion. He was employed by American Air Filter in Louisville, KY for 42 years before retiring in 1985. He lived in Louisville until 1995, when he and Dorothy moved to Indianapolis to be near their daughter.
Wilbur is survived by his son, Mark (Vickie) Raymer; son-in-law Gary Hatcher; 7 grandchildren, and 19 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy; daughter, Joyce Hatcher; brother, Reaburn Raymer; and three sisters, Nella McCrocklin, Glendean Maples, and Anna West.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 28, 2022 from 1-3 PM followed by a service at 3:00 PM at Leppert Mortuary – Nora Chapel, 740 E. 86th Street, Indianapolis, Indiana. A graveside service will be held at Cave Hill Cemetery, Louisville, Kentucky, on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at 12:00 PM.
