

Age 85, Broad Cove, passed away peacefully on Wednesday March 20, 2013 at Dorothy Ley Hospice in Toronto. Born in Broad Cove on May 27, 1927. He was the son of the late Daniel and Mary (MacDonald) MacDougall. He is now resting peacefully with his sisters Margaret and Mary and brothers Frank, Joe and Jimmie. He was a member of St. James parish, Toronto. He was an Ironworker for 62 years out of local 721, Toronto. John worked all over Canada and parts of the United States. Some of his greatest accomplishments were working on the CN tower, Toronto City Hall, the SkyDome and numerous other skyscrapers. He loved his homeland and cherished his family and did his very best to attend all family functions. John will be remembered for looking his best in jeans, plaid shirt, Ironworker cap and driving his truck.
John is survived by his sister Catherine MacDougall in Washington, D.C., and his brothers RJ and wife Anne of Waltham, Mass., Peter of Brampton, Bernie of Scarborough, Donnie and Diana of Mississauga. John is also survived by 8 neices and nephews; Dawn, Jamie, Danny, Joe, Cathy, Christine, Margaret and Dan, seventeen grand neices and nephews, all of whom loved him dearly. He will be remembered by his predeceased wife's 2 children, grand and great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Inverness Funeral Home on Monday April 1 from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9. Funeral mass will be held on Tuesday at 11 am at St. Margaret of Scotland Church, Broad Cove. Burial to follow in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Margaret of Scotland Cemetary Fund, Broad Cove.
