Alice Jane Mac Millan

MacMillan (MacLeod), Alice Jane - 69, of New Glasgow and formerly of St. Rose, Inverness Co., passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, on Sunday, September 4, 2011. A kind-spirited and generous women who always greeted people with a smile, Alice was hard working and always took the time to share with whoever she met stories of her life experiences in the MacLeod tradition. She provided a loving home and warmth to all her family and friends. Mom's favorite saying "Life is what you make it."

Born on April 10, 1942, in St. Rose, she was a daughter of the late John R. and Elizabeth, "Bessy" MacLeod. She will be sadly missed by her husband, Robert "Casey" MacMillan; daughter, Siby (Andy) Rankin, Mabou Harbour; sons, Arthur Jacquard, New Glasgow; Robert (Victorine) Jacquard, Cheticamp; Gary (Melissa) Jacquard, Peace River, Alta. as well as her grandchildren, Lisa, Andrew, Nicholas, Kelsey, Jackson, Erica, Ethan, Keiran and Aiden. Alice was a beloved aunt to many neices and nephews. Also surviving are brothers and sisters, Virginia Journeau, George (Nancy) MacLeod, John Walter (Cathy) MacLeod, Lauchina (Marvin) MacLeod, Allan (Macey) MacLeod, Marie (Martin) Foster, Ernest MacLeod, Mary (Kevin) Beaton and Sylvia (Johnny) MacIsaac. Aside from her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Edith; sister-in-law, Joan MacLeod; brother in-law; Bert Journeau; niece,Yvonne MacLeod; and nephew; Brian Journeau.

Visitation will be held at the Inverness Funeral Home on Tuesday September 6, 2011 from 7-9 p.m. and Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be held on Thursday from St. Margaret of Scotland Church, Broad Cove, at 11 a.m. with Father Duncan MacIsaac officiating. Burial to follow in St. Margaret of Scotland Cemetary. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
