It is with sadness we announce the death of our brother, Angus Alexander MacDonald, age 73, of Mabou and most recently as resident of Inverary Manor, Inverness, who passed away peacefully in Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital on Monday, November 16, 2020. Born on January 5, 1947, he was the third of 12 children of Dannie and Tena (MacLean) MacDonald of Mabou Mines. Angus was a very kind and compassionate man who always looked out for his friends and family. He was proud and forever loyal to his birthplace. He worked for many years on construction projects in Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island , New Brunswick and Newfoundland. As a member of the Labourers’ International Union, he travelled to Calgary, Alta., and worked on many job sites as the oil and gas industry grew and thrived. Angus loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting, and playing cards. He had a passion for fiddle music, Gaelic songs, sports and horses. He was an avid fan of the horse races at Inverness Raceway. He is survived by his siblings, Billy, Inverary Manor; Anne Chisholm (Donald), Antigonish; Kate Beaton, Little Judique; Donalda Beaton (Francis), South West Mabou; Josephine Beaton (David) Brook Village; Roddie (Mary), South West Margaree; Sally, Inverness; Michael and Stephen, Mabou; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; brothers, Gerard and Angus Donald; his brother-in-law, Burke; and his nephew, Aaron. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Cremation has taken place. Uncle Angus was a kind and thoughtful man. While I attended St. F.X. , Angus would head home for the weekend from his job in Halifax. He always made a point to stop at my apartment for a visit which was something I always looked forward too. He will be missed. xoxoxo

Angus was always so good to us Backstreet kids growing up. When we would deliver The Oran, he'd be quick with a story and would be genuinely interested in how we were doing. The chosen picture of him is exactly how I remember him - friendly, sincere and ready for a laugh.

Sending along sincere condolences,

Shoneth
