JULY 2, 1954 – OCTOBER 19, 2024
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, Ann Marie MacDonald, of Marble Hill, who passed away on October 19th, 2024 surrounded by her loving family at the Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital. Born in Inverness on July 2, 1954, she was the daughter of Levi and Sally (MacLean) Watts.
Ann Marie was a graduate of the LPN program in 1974. She worked at the Grace Maternity Hospital for a short time then moved home and worked her entire career at the Inverness Hospital until she retired in 2009. She enjoyed caring for the elderly.
She was loving and caring. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, travelling the province watching them play hockey and other sports and always being their most supportive fan. She was very proud of all their sporting and other life accomplishments and loved them all so dearly. While she enjoyed travelling South discovering new beaches, she was most happy boating with her family and spending time at our beautiful local beaches, especially Park’s beach, Port Hood Island. She was a dedicated community member who spent many years volunteering with her church and the local food bank.
She is survived by her husband, Kevin; daughters, Angela (Brent), Heather (Jeff), Jacqueline (Allister) and her seven grandchildren Connor, Olivia, Ben, Luke, Carson, Maddison and sweet Sally Mae. She is also survived by her mother, Sally Watts to whom she dedicated most of her later years caring for; sisters Susan, (Sandy),Long Point; Kathleen, Port Hood; Donna, Halifax; brothers, Alexander, Port Hood; Tommy (Joy), Port Hood; Bobby (Judy), Port Hood; Gary (Marcella), Port Hood; Melvin (Darlene), Port Hood; brother in law Joe (Lynne), Port Hood. She was predeceased by her father, Levi Watts; brother, Brian in infancy; and sister and best friend, Elizabeth.
Ann Marie will be forever missed by her brothers and sisters in-law, aunts and uncles, many nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, friends and community. Also leaving behind her beloved grand dogs, Charlie, Mila and Dottie.
The family want to thank and acknowledge the professional and outstanding care provided by all staff at the Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital during the last few months. To all the physicians, nurses, technicians and support staff we can not thank you all enough; you provided the most compassionate and competent care, to which Ann Marie truly respected and appreciated.
Visitation will be held at the Port Hood Resting Place on Friday, October 25th from 3:00-7:00. Funeral service will be held at St. Stephen’s United Church, Port Hood on Saturday, October 26th at 2:00 with Reverend Nick Phillips officiating.
