

MacArthur Charles Bernard “Charlie”, age 89, with profound sorrow we announce the passing of our father on Wednesday Feb 24, 2010 in Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital. Born in Inverness on December 27, 1920, he was a son of the late John D and Rose (MacLean) MacArthur. Charlie was a member of Stella Maris Church, Inverness, and was MLA from 1988-1998, a World War II Vet and member of the Captain Angus L MacDonald Legion Branch #132 as well as a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #2298, Inverness. He was a dear friend of Patsy LeFort and her family. Charlie is survived by his son Chuck (Penny), Inverness, daughter Lorraine, Windsor Ont, sister Rachel (Donald) James, Dartmouth, daughters in law Isabel and Charlotte, grandchildren Lynn, Paul (Shannon), Beth (Kerr), Bruce (Kumiko), Jill (Kevin) Tanya (Rod), Tara, David (Sherri), Patricia (Billy) and Steven; great-grandchildren Catherine, Kyla, Ainsley, Wyatt, Kolton, Malcolm, Reina, Sasha, Skylar, Parker, Coady, Kaylie, Sarah, Braden. He is also survived by brothers in law John (Mary) Kennedy, Alliston, Ont, Donnie (Pauline) Kennedy, Inverness, sisters in law’s Jessie (Bernie) Cameron, Mabou, Leona (John) Shaw and Christina MacLean, Inverness; several nieces and nephews.
Charlie was predeceased by his loving wife Ninna (July19/88), infant son Charles Bernard, and his son Angus (Nov 8/2006) and son in law Hugh (March 31/88).brothers Duncan and Stanley, sisters Josephine, Tena, Rosena and Mable Ann
Visitation will be held on Friday February 26, 2010 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral mass will be held on Saturday February 27, 2010 at 11 am from Stella Maris Church, Inverness with Fr. Duncan MacIsaac officiating, burial in the parish cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Veterans Memorial Wall, Inverness or to Central Inverness Palliative Care Society.
