

MacKinnon (MacLean), Christie Jessie – at age 100 years, passed away July1, 2010, in Inverness consolidated memorial Hospital. Born in east Lake Ainslie on May 18, 1910, she was the daughter of the late John James and Catherine (MacKay) MacLean. As a young woman, Christie lived and worked in Boston for ten years, returning to her native Lake Ainslie in 1939, where she later married and raised her family. A wonderful homemaker and a tireless volunteer in her church and community, Christie enjoyed quilting, knitting and a game of 51 with her friends. Her devotion to family and friends will be deeply missed but we will always remember her kind ways and wonderful sense of humour. Christie was a senior elder of the Grant United Church and a life member of the Grant United U.C.W. She was a charter and honorary member of Lake Ainslie Historical Society and charter member of Ladies Auxiliary Lake Ainslie Fire Department. Christie is survived her children, Russell,(Judy), MacKinnon, Sydney; Eileen, (Lauchie), MacNeil, Inverness; grandchildren, Shane, Tommie, Crystal, Ben and Becky; as well as 5 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and her husband, Archie Allan, Christie was predeceased by brothers, Jim, Allen J, Neil, Dannie; and sisters, Annie, Mary, and infant sister. Cremation has taken place, visitation will be Monday July 5 from 2-4, and 7-9 p.m. in Inverness Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held from Grant United Church, East Lake Ainslie Route 395 on Tuesday July 6 at 2 p.m., Rev Donna Tourneur celebrating, with burial to follow in East Lake Ainslie Presbyterian Cemetery. Donations in memory of Christie may be made to Grant United Church Memorial Fund East Lake Ainslie or to a charity of one’s choice.
