Born in Inverness on August 16th, 1945, she was a daughter of the late Peter and Annie Mae Smith (MacPhail). She was a member of Stella Maris Parish Church, Inverness.
Delia owned and operated C&D Canteen, known as "Clemmie's" which operated out of their home on MacIsaac Street, Inverness for 15 years. She was a founding member of the Ladies Fireman's Auxiliary in the 80's. She lived the majority of her life in Inverness until she took sick in March of 2024 from which she spent the rest of her days with her daughter Charlene and family in Halifax.
Delia is survived by her children, Mark (Elaine), Peter, both of Inverness, Kurt (Carrie), Truro, Roger (Danielle), Port Hawkesbury, Charlene (Robert), Halifax; sister, Nellie Timmons, Inverness; brothers, Alex (Ann) Spears, Charlie Smith, (Jane Ann); ten grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephew.
Besides her parents, Delia was predeceased by her husband, Clemmie.
Visitation will be held in Inverness Funeral Home on Monday, January 27th, 2025, from 3-7 pm. Funeral Mass to take place in Stella Maris Church, Inverness on January 28th, 2025, at 11:00 am.
There will be a reception to follow in the Inverness Firehall.
