Donald Daniel "DD" Gillis

We regret to announce the passing of Donald Daniel "DD" Gillis on Friday, January 31st, 2020 at home surrounded by his loving family.

"DD" was born June 3rd, 1945 in Inverness to the late Alexander Joseph Gillis (d.1963) and Mary Josephine(MacLellan) Gillis (d.1991). We have lost a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend.

Dad loved spending time with family, especially for the big family summer gatherings and birthdays, his coffee dates with Mom, fishing with his grandchildren and working on old rigs with his sons and daughter while enjoying a cold beer on a hot day.

He is survived by his wife, Annabelle (MacPherson) Gillis; his daughter, Carrie Ann (George) Campbell; his sons, Daniel Joseph, Hugh Jason (Lynn), and Glenn; grandchildren, Cheyenne, Keltin, Brittany, Alex, Jordon, Breanne, Isaiah, and Bryson; great-grandchildren, Noah, Hailey, Zachary, Michael, Emma, Aria, Amelia, Aubrey, Drew and Avery; brothers and sisters, Josephine, Mary Flora (Stephen), Anne (Hugh), Minnie, Stewart (Mary Catherine), Earl, Angus (Kaye), Rhoda (Stan), John, Cassie (Hugh), Susan, Stephen (Mary), Hughena, Theresa and Archie (Ruth); and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grand-nephews.

Besides his parents, DD was predeceased by sister, Olive and brother, Alexander.

Visitation will be Tuesday, February 4th from 5-9 p.m. in Inverness Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday. February 5th at 11:00 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, West Lake Ainslie, with Father Bernie MacDonald officiating. Burial at a later date.
