Born in Inverness on Feb 20, 1950 to the late Duncan and Sadie (MacPherson). He is survived by his loving children, Raymond (Michele),Victoria B.C; Sadine(Johnny) Inverness, Amanda (Travis), Port Hood, Matthew (Kayla), Port Hood, and the mother of his children, Georgette, who they shared a special friendship over the last number of years. The pride and joy of his life, his grandchildren, Keely, Kenzie and Tori. He was so proud of their accomplishments, he was the happiest when they were around.
Dad leaves behind his siblings, John Dan Walker, Scarborough Ont., Ann(Donald) Gillis, South West Margaree, Elaine(Wally) Mac Donald, Inverness, Many nieces ,nephews and close friends. He is predeceased by his parents, his brother Allan, sister Rose and twin brothers Kevin and Gerald.
He worked at Stora Pulp and Paper Mill for over 30 years before his retirement in June 2007 . He was an avid sports fan, a die hard Toronto Maple Leafs and Toronto Blue Jay fan. He loved to play the game of hockey himself, playing with the Alpines back in the Inverness County League. He loved fishing, playing cards, and trying his luck at Bingo a few nights a week. He could be found driving around town with Wally and his buddies. He was the chauffeur for his grandkids for many years until they were old enough to return the favour.
The family would like to thank all his neighbours and friends at Greenacres Senior Complex, for always looking out for him. We also would like to extend our sincerest thanks to Dr. Susie Egar and the staff at ICMH for everything you did for dad, we thank you for your care and compassion. Also, Elaine Nicholson NP, for looking after dad the last number of years, he thought so much of you.
Visitation will take place in Inverness Funeral Home, Wednesday, March 8 from 3-7pm. Funeral Mass will take place the following day on Thursday, March 9 at 11am in Stella Maris Church, Inverness with Fr. Dan MacDonald and Deacon Dr. Duncan Mc Master officiating.
Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the Dr. Bernie MacLean Recreation Centre’s “Fill the Net” Fundraiser in memory of dad.
