Edith was born in Inverness on September 7, 1946 to the late Hector and Dorothy (MacIsaac) MacDonnell.
She was a member of St Margaret of Scotland Church, Broad Cove.
Edith started her working life at the old Baltimore Restaurant and Ferguson's Drug Store both in Inverness.
She then made her way to Boston and worked as a house keeper for several years before returning back home to Inverness where she continued her work at St. Mary's Hospital. She then met her husband John, and spent the next 40 years building a life for themselves in Cape Breton.
Edith is survived by her husband, John; son, John Kyle; grandchildren, Maynard (Monika), Kenzie (Adam) and Riley; great-grandchildren, Mara and John Marek; sisters, Mary Catherine (Peter), Flo (Mack), Kathleen (Danny); brother, Daniel (Donna); son-in-law, Frankie and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her daughter, Leeann; sister, Marian; brother, George; mother-in-law, Catherine; father-in-law, Dan H; sister-in-law, Margaret; brother-in-law, Simon; and niece, Cathy (Angie MacIsaac).
Visitation will be held in Stella Maris Church, Inverness on Friday, December 3rd from 10-10:45 a.m. Funeral Mass to follow at 11:00 a.m. with Father Joby Moonjely officiating. Burial to follow in the parish cemetery. Please note in keeping with COVID-19 Public Health Act requirements, all attending will be required to wear a mask and show photo ID and proof of vaccination before entering.
