It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Edward Malcolm McQueen, affectionately known as "Mac", who passed away peacefully on Sunday June 22, 2025, at the age of 83.
Born on June 18, 1942, in Rothesay, New Brunswick, Mac was a son of the late Edward and Marion (Livingstone) McQueen. Mac was the devoted husband of Maybelle Chisholm McQueen.
Mac was raised in Rothesay and pursued studies in Business before embarking on a varied and fulfilling career. A man of many talents, Mac was a skilled painter by trade and worked many years in the Saint John area before moving to Cape Breton with Maybelle. A large part of Mac's heart remained in Saint John with his four sons whom he adored. Mac was a big sports fan and truly enjoyed watching football, baseball, golf and hockey, Go Leafs! Mac's family will remember him for his kindness, sense of humor, quiet strength and unwavering love.
Mac is survived by Maybelle, his loving wife of 45 years; and his sister, Patricia (George) Kilburn. Mac was a proud stepfather to Brian (Denise), Myles, Colleen (Raymond) and Alana. Mac was the proud father of four sons, George (Beth), Stephen (Katherine), Kenny (Barb), Chris (Margaret). Mac leaves behind many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Mac will be dearly missed by a cherished grandson, John Boy, who saw Mac as more than a grandfather. Mac was predeceased by his parents, Edward and Marion; brother, Lloyd; sister-in-law, Willa; and niece, Shyanne.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday July 2, 2025, from 10:00 to 10:45 am in St. Joseph's Church, South West Margaree with a Funeral Mass to follow at 11:00 am. Burial to follow in the parish cemetery. Donations in memory of Mac may be made to Inverary Manor (Sunrise Villa), Inverness or a charity of your choice.
