Elizabeth O Brien

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dearest, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend on March 29, 2011 in Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Born in Mull River, February 22, 1929, she was a daughter of the late Ronald J. MacDonald and Margaret (Gillis) MacDonald.

She was renowned for her wonderful hospitality, her great cooking skills, so many great parties and family gatherings full of music, food, family and friends.

Loved by all, she leaves to mourn her husband of 62 years, Christopher; her children, Jessie Margaret (Leonel LeBlanc), Patsy (Phillip Gouthro), Ronelda (Wade Aylward), Anne (Don Chevalier), John (Cindy Dunford), Chris (Joy McIsaac), Elizabeth (Albert DeBaie); sisters, Mary MacDonald, Inverness; Margaret Marshall, Port Hawkesbury, and Helena MacDonald, Mull River; as well as 20 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her sons Joseph, John Francis and Patrick Francis; grandchildren, Joseph and Alishia; brothers, Joseph, John Allen, Allen, Alexander and Archie. Visitation will be held in the vestry of St. Mary’s Church, Mabou, on Thursday, March 31 from 7 to 9pm and Friday, April 1 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm. Funeral mass will be held at 11am on Saturday from St. Mary’s Church, Mabou, with Fr. Angus Morris officiating. Burial at a later date in the parish cemetery.
