Mickey was born in Inverness on December 27th, 1940. He moved to Ontario in his twenties and worked various mechanical jobs and married Betty MacInnis in 1964 and had three children. The family moved back to Cape Breton in the early 70’s where they settled. He worked at Nova Scotia Forest Industries in Port Hawkesbury for over 30+ years and retired in his late 50’s.
Mickey was handy, a jack of all trades and took pride in fixing and tinkering. There wasn’t a project around the house that he wouldn’t tackle. He was very practical and responsible in nature and loved reading the newspapers’ and keeping up on the latest stories and having discussions regarding the same. He also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and watching game shows and Blue Jays and Dodgers games on TV. He had a love for Country & Western music which he shared and enjoyed with his brothers and sisters. He loved his pets dearly and there wasn’t a feline that he came across that wasn’t drawn to him.
He was the last surviving member of his family. He was predeceased by his parents, Margaret and John Dan Walker; brothers, George, James, Hugh, Alexander, Lauchie and Wally; sisters, Isabel, Rose, Immaculata and Lorraine.
He leaves to mourn his loving and devoted wife, Betty; son, Fabian (Beth); twin daughters, Charlene and Darlene and many nieces and nephews.
