Inverary Manor/East Lake Ainslie
Florence Agnes Fraser passed away in Inverary Manor, Inverness, on April 10, 2017.
Born Sept. 15, 1918, she was a daughter of the late Alexander and Robena (Fraser) MacKinnon.
Florence attended Hamilton School, East Lake Ainslie, then took a bookkeeping course
in Amherst, Nova Scotia. She worked for a fish co-op in Alder Point, Cape Breton, Angus MacKay’s store/post office, Scotsville, and as a house keeper for Hugh and Maggie MacMillan, Twin Rock Valley, and Dr. Frank MacLeod, Inverness.
Florence married Robert Fraser, Inverness, where they had three sons. The family moved up to East Lake Ainslie in the early 1950's. Florence lived in Inverary Manor for the past four years.
Florence loved doing crossword puzzles and playing Scrabble even up into her latter years. She was a fluent Gaelic speaker.
Florence is survived by sons, Alexander (Darlene), East Lake Ainslie; Barrie, East Lake
Ainslie, and Reginald (Sharon), Dartmouth; Nancy Fraser, mother of Robb and Kevin;
grandchildren, Robb, Kevin and Lynn Fraser, and Becky, Lennie, Debbie and Christian Bodyk; eleven great-grandchildren.
Florence was predeceased by her parents, husband, Robert, and foster brother, Donald MacKinnon.
The funeral will take place in Alexander Grant Memorial United Church, East Lake Ainslie, at
11:00 a.m., April 13, with Rev. Rachel Campbell officiating. Visitation will be from 2-4 and
7-9 p.m. Wednesday April 12 in Inverness Funeral Home, Inverness. Interment will be in the East Lake Ainslie Cemetery.
A lunch and time with family will take place in the Lake Ainslie Fire Department, Scotsville, following the service.
