Jessie Allene MacDonald

October 15, 1927March 23, 2020

Jessie Allene MacDonald,

Age 92, of East Lake Ainslie, passed away on Monday, March 23, 2020 in Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital.

Born in East Lake Ainslie on October 15,1927. She was a daughter of Allan Jack and Loretta (Mutch) MacLean. Jessie lived a full life at East Lake Ainslie, growing up on her family farm where she worked hard and then making her own home with her beloved husband, Charlie and her dear children, Charles and Gwen.

Jessie was a proud crafts-woman. Anything she put her hand to, from weaving to baking to quilting, was perfect. She loved to knit and donated many bonnets, blankets, and teddy bears over the years to local hospitals. She kept all of us warm with her hats, mitts and socks. She was a proud and dedicated life member of the Lake Ainslie Historical Society and the East Lake Ainslie Presbyterian Church.

Jessie was a strong, selfless woman. We will miss her quick wit and her kind heart. She will be sadly missed by her son, Allan Charles MacDonald, East Lake Ainslie; grandson, Bobby MacDonald, Halifax; granddaughter, Jessica MacDonald, Inverness; brother, DJ (Cathy) MacLean, East Lake Ainslie; sister, Catherine (John) Campbell, Lower Sackville; and her dearest friend, Annette MacDougall, Lake Ainslie. Jessie is predeceased by her husband, Charlie; daughter, Gwen; brother, Donnie and a baby brother who died in infancy.

Heartfelt thanks to her wonderful nurses and palliative care team at Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital. We will be forever grateful for your care and compassion.

There will be no visitation as per her wishes. Funeral Service will be determined at a later date. Donations can be made to the Lake Ainslie Historical Society and East Lake Ainslie Presbyterian Church. Online condolences may be made to: www.invernessfuneralhome.com

To Charles, Jessica, Bobby, DJ and extended family. Jessie was a wonderful lady, a hard working and generous lady. Always had a project on the go; a quilt, knitting. She was always baking and not just what we baked as Charlie was on a diabetic diet and she herself was on a celiac diet and cooked for Church suppers. Made socks for neighbours that had cold feet. Jessie gave to all she could as long as she was able. She will be missed by her community, her family and friends.

The Angels sang "Amazing Grace"
The Lord came down and touched her face,
He held her hand and whispered low,
Come with me it's time to go,
The Gates of Heaven opened wide,
And the angels lined up side by side,
A special gift was on her way,
The day God took her home.

Great memories of going to the Lake when we visited in the summer time to great conversation and warm welcome. Uncle Charlie on the fiddle playing a tune. Rest in piece.
