Michael was born on December 12, 1931. He grew up in Margaree Harbour and spent his working life as a fisherman, mailman and bus driver. He and Carmella (MacKinnon) married on November 4, 1961, and spent 53 loving years together. Michael was a devoted husband and father. He loved his wife, children, the ocean, his garden and a good card game. He was a good, quiet man, who also loved his home and his community. He’ll be fondly remembered by his grandkids for sneaking them cookies when Carmella wasn’t looking.
He is lovingly remembered in the hearts of his children, Wayne (Odette), Diane (Mark) Blok, Paula (Blaise) MacDonnell, Kevin (Heather), Owen (Lucille), Cathy (Kevin) Hughes, Gary (Tanya), Steven (Margaret) as well as his 21 grandchildren. He is also survived by brothers ,Thomas (Bertha) LeBlanc, Albert (Alice) LeBlanc, Johnny (Carol) LeBlanc; sisters, Teresa (Len) Burt, Dorothy (John Archie) Mackenzie, and Marie (Frank) Pittman. He is predeceased by wife, Carmella; brothers, Francis, Leo, Pat LeBlanc, as well as his sister, Mathilda O’Leary.
Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in Belle Cote Community Centre. Funeral Mass will be held at 11a.m. in St. Michaels Church, East Margaree, with Fr. MacDonald Ibeh officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Central Inverness Palliative Care Society. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Inverness Funeral Home.
