

It is with heavy hearts we announce the death of Neil Francis MacDonnell of Glencoe Station. Francis passed away on October 31, 2011, in Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Born in Glencoe Station on December 27, 1932, he was a son of the late Archie Neil and Marcella (Christie) MacDonnell. Francis worked for the Municipality of the County of Inverness for 25 years and was well-known throughout the community for his quick wit, wonderful personality, and most important his kind soul. He will be sadly missed by all who came to know him. He is survived by his children, Frankie, Laura Lynn (John Wayne), Glencoe Station; Stanley, Wesley (Mary-Lou), Trenton; Gary (Celeste), Digby County; Scott, Dartmouth; sisters, Kathleen, Sharon, Tina, and Anita; brothers, Martin, Jerry, Jackie and Collie; grandchildren, Melishia, Cathy, Kelly, John Joe, Lyndsay, Haley, Emily, Colin, Eili, Abby, Tasha, Nikki, Stacy; great- grandchildren, Tyler, Madison, Owen, Noah and Austin. Francis was predeceased by his wife, Catherine (MacNeil); son, Kevin and granddaughter, Alisha in infancy as well as his brothers, Angus, Ronnie and Blaze. Visitation will be held on Thursday November 3, 2011 in Port Hood Resting Place, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral mass will be held on Friday November 4 at 11 am in St. Peter’s Church, Port Hood with Fr. Vincent VanZutphen officiating, burial in the parish cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to a charity of your choice.
