He was born to Thomas and Annie Dixon on November 12th, 1952.
He graduated from Inverness Consolidated High School and NSCC’s Electrical Program. After graduation he worked as a lineman for Maritime Tel & Tel and private contractors across Canada. He went on to power pole inspection and then into the construction trade. In recent years, Thomas retired from the Cape Breton Island Housing Authority.
Dad combined being a jack of all trades with a brilliant mechanical aptitude. He loved to tinker with anything that needed repair. We all relied upon his knowledge and practical common sense when we needed help and learned much from him.
Dad enjoyed his Cape Breton lifestyle, his daily walks with Howie, his beloved Westie, chatting with friends and making new ones along the way, drives with Christene and Howie, ice cream trips with his granddaughter Caylee Anne, a good cup of King Cole Tea, old cars and watching hockey. He loved music and playing guitar. He would check in daily with our mom for updates on family. He was also fiercely proud of his family’s military history. He was our ‘gentle giant’.
While we mourn his passing, we take heart Dad will not be forgotten. Tales, and they are true, of adventures of a VW Bug, feats of strength or good-natured adventures with friends will live in infamy.
Thomas leaves to mourn his children, Gerrard (Tabitha), Ian (Marie), Keenan (Kayla), Kaylan (Neil). Grandchildren, Caylee Anne, Tristan, Maggie and he was looking forward to meeting our newest addition to our ever-growing family, Danny. Also mourned by mother to his children, Bonny MacIsaac and his partner, Christene Hubbard; siblings, Alastair, Bobby, Marion: many nieces, nephews and cousins and his best "furbaby" Howie.
Predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Annie Dixon, an infant daughter (born sleeping), and siblings, Sonny, Margaret, Hannah, Douglas and Mae.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 23rd, 2022, from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m in Stella Maris Parish Church, Inverness with Funeral mass to follow at 11:00 a.m.
No flowers please and by request masks are to be worn for visitation and Funeral Mass. Donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or a charity of your choice.
