Allan Wesley Bennett
May 20, 1929 – August 20, 2011
Allan Wesley Bennett, 82, passed away Saturday, August 20, 2011 in Wichita Falls. Funeral Services will be held at 10 AM on Tuesday, August 23, 2011 at the Dutton Funeral Home Chapel with Don Pellikan, pastor, First United Methodist Church of Burkburnett officiating. Graveside Services will follow at Highland Cemetery under the direction of Dutton Funeral Home in Iowa Park.
Allan was born May 20, 1929 in Jersey City, NJ to John William and Bertha Henrietta (Voegtle) Bennett. He married Martha Carlene Sullivan on June 22, 1950 in Iowa Park, Texas. He was a veteran who served in the Air Force. Allan worked for the Texas Department of Mental Health and Mental Retardation in Wichita Falls as the Plant Maintenance Manager. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Iowa Park where he had served as president of Kumduble Sunday School Class. He was a past member of the Evening Lions Club and worked with the American Heart Association. He was also a member of the UOA and Cancer Society. He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Arnold Bennett.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Martha Carlene (Sullivan) Bennett of Iowa Park; two sons, Allan Wesley Bennett, Jr. of Greenwood, Arkansas and William Anthony Bennett of Arlington, Texas; four grandchildren, Brandon Bennett of Haslet, Texas, Cory Bennett of Greenwood, Arkansas, Meagan Bennett of Greenwood, Arkansas, and Toni Bennett of San Diego, California; seven great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
Visitation will be held on from 6 PM to 8 PM on Monday, August 22, 2011 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Wichita Falls, PO Box 4804 Wichita Falls, Texas 76308 or to the First United Methodist Church Building Fund, Iowa Park, Texas 76367.
