Billy F. Garvin, 83, of Iowa Park passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2013 in Wichita Falls. A memorial service will be held at 1:00P.M. on Friday, April 5, 2013 in the chapel of Dutton Funeral Home in Iowa Park with Rev. Dennis Neal officiating.

A son of the late W.W. and Alma (Pear) Garvin, he was born March 16, 1930. He went to work at age 14 with his father for the Katy Railroad. Having only an 8th grade education, he accomplished much in his lifetime. He built his own home and owned his own tile & cabinet shop, managed and cooked at a restaurant, was a police officer for 8 years, worked for Burgess Mfg., helped build the PPG plant, raised cows and had his own butcher shop. He was a welder & carpenter. He liked painting art and building woodcrafts. He could play the mandolin and piano by ear, self-taught, and even recorded a record when he was about 19. He sounded a lot like a young Hank Williams. He was a very strong, independent man and liked helping people.

He was preceded in death by his son Russell Garvin, daughter Tina Mink, wife Joann Garvin, and sisters Angie Shrum and Wanda Riley. He is survived by his daughters Linda Schroeder and husband Bill of Richardson; Donna Balch and husband Freddie of Iowa Park; brother Danny Garvin of Pampa; sisters Wadene Trotter and family of Wichita Falls, Peggy Plowman and husband of Lewisville; Patsy Mahoney of Kansas; 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

God Bless you Daddy. We love you and will miss you.
