

MSgt. Collis John Ikey, 76, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, January 13, 2014 in Iowa Park. Funeral services will be held at 10 AM on Thursday, January 16, 2014 at Dutton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Hare, Pastor, Pacific Avenue Baptist Church, officiating. Graveside services with full military honors will follow at Highland Cemetery under the direction of Dutton Funeral Home in Iowa Park.
MSgt. Ikey was born on October 30, 1937 in Worcester, Massachusetts to Stewart and Rita (McCarthy) Ikey. He enlisted in the Army as a Combat Engineer and served in the Korean War with the 13th Combat Engineer Battalion, 7th Infantry Division. He later transferred to the Air Force and served in Vietnam, Okinawa, Thailand, and Taiwan. MSgt. Ikey retired from the Air Force after a successful career and worked at Cryovac as a supervisor, retiring again in 1993. He also was a volunteer with the Wichita County Humane Society.
MSgt. Ikey met his sweetheart and life-long companion, Patricia Jackson, while stationed at McConnell AFB, Wichita, Kansas. They were married in August of 1963. They had five children, Lorie Johnson of Fort Worth, Texas; Timothy Ikey and his wife, Cindy of the United Arab Emirates; Dee Dee Hart and her husband, Tyler of Fort Worth; Jack Ikey and his wife, Jennifer of North Richland Hills, Texas; and James Ikey and his wife, Bridy of Mansfield, Texas. Collis and Pat also have 23 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.
Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Wichita Falls and to Pacific Avenue Baptist Church in Iowa Park.
