OBITUARY

Don E. Todd

December 11, 1939October 3, 2019

Donnie Eugene Todd was called to heaven 10/3/19. He was born to and raised by his beloved parents Herman and Cornella, along with five siblings, Bob, Lillian, Gary, Linda and James. He married Bernice Forson 2/12/ 57. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, his son Gerald and wife Loren, his son Brian and wife Alfiya, and grandchildren Ashley Bolton, Don Todd, Whitney Tate and Keller Sims, great grandchildren Savannah Dawn Bolton and Meadow Rose Bolton, Peyton Tate and Jak Kirby, and all five siblings. He was a graduate of Iowa Park High School and played football, worked in the oil field, and for the City of Iowa Park as well as Parkway Tru Value. The most lengthy jobs were as a pressman with the newspaper and he retired as operations manager for a local oil distributor. He remained a fan of football and enjoyed watching with his grandson, Don. In early times he coached the Cardinals Little League team. He enjoyed family gatherings, camping with family, and trading funny stories. He was always able to find humor in some of his dark moments. Friends from the press room taught him golf and he was hooked: he had to pass it to other friends. This was Don, who wanted others to enjoy things he enjoyed. Saved by faith in Jesus Christ as a teen and then pursuing the teaching of the Bible established in him the fact there is only one true God. He honored family, those who protect our country and those who help others in need. His departure leaves a void in all of us but we can be assured a great family reunion can be ours to claim.

Memories include a man who deeply loved the Lord Jesus Christ, the Word, and his family. In a rich way, he had real capacity for life... Special thoughts go out to Bernice and the family: May God hold you close and comfort you. I will be thinking of all of you as you celebrate his life tomorrow, Oct 11th; a spiritual warrior is now face-to-face with his Savior.
Prayers 🙏-- Linda (Watson) Finlin

Don was one of the finest gentlemen I ever met. I always enjoyed visiting with him and Bernice when I would see them out and about. He was a good man and will be missed. Tandra’s and mine’s prayers go out to Bernice, Gerald, Brian and the rest of the family.
