Donald G Oates

Don was born December 25, 1924, to his mother, Goldie Oates, and his father, George Oates, in LaGrange, Ohio.

Don was a WWII veteran, serving his country in the U.S. Coast Guard.

Don was a very talented, self taught artist, who spent his leisure time painting and carving. His love of nature was evident in the beautiful pieces he created.

Don was an active member of Lakeview Church of God, in Iowa Park, TX.

Don is preceded in death by his parents, brother Maynard, sister Betty Handyside,

son Donald, grandson Matthew Oates, and grandson Kevin Pugh.

Don is survived by his wife Lydia, of 55 years, children, Bill Oates (Marianne), Monna Lou Daubert (Steve), Dan Oates, Donald Pugh (Dora), Judy Witucki (Bill), Scott Pugh (Lori), and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great, great grandchildren.

Don never liked being the center of attention, and per his wishes, there will be no service.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the hospice team for their compassion and support during Don’s long illness.
