Ella Lee Johnson

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, January 13, 2011 at Dutton Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Jay L. Beavers of Saginaw, Texas officiating. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery under the direction of Dutton Funeral Home.

Ella was born July 10, 1917 in Beech Grove, Tennessee to Robert Lee and Mary McWilliams Jernigan. She and Thomas Nelson Johnson were married March 6, 1934 in Clarendon, Texas. She was an LVN for Wichita Falls State Hospital for 11 years. She also worked for Scotts Factory, Walgreens Cafeteria and Levine’s Dry Goods Store. She moved to Iowa Park in December 1944 and moved to Arkansas in 1984. She moved back to Iowa Park in 1990 and moved to Fort Worth in 2004. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Iowa Park, where she was a Sunday School Teacher for the Junior Girls. She also worked in the Nursery for 15 years. Ella was a G.A. Leader 4 years, Cub Scouts for 3 years, Church Clerk 8 years in Arkansas. She was president of the WMU for 4 years in Arkansas and held other offices, also. She was instrumental in organizing 2 WMU organizations in Arkansas.

Her parents, husband, son and several brothers and sisters preceded her in death.

Ella is survived by a daughter, Sara Richter and husband, Marvin of Saginaw, Texas; 8 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
