

Sue was born in Alamogordo, New Mexico and spent most of her childhood in Hale Center, TX. She was a lifetime avid horsewoman, winning multiple championships while showing her horses, I Dunnit Mr and Trace Of Ace. Sue always believed humans were placed on earth to be stewards to animals and held a deep love for all creatures. She wore many hats in her lifetime including a welder, sandblaster, drilling rig and show car painter. Sue could tool leather and build saddles, belts, and purses, as well as paint and draw beautiful scenes of horses. She was a journeyman electrician and worked for the City Of Iowa Park where she retired as the Code Enforcement Officer, as well as the head of the park maintenance and made sure the city was covered with festive lights and decorated for Christmas each year. Susie was the loving wife of Ronnie for over 45 years and placed her family above all else.
She is survived by Ronnie. Two daughters, Shelly and Jamie and one son, James. Four grandchildren and their spouses, Nichole Schroeder and partner Clarence, CJ Holloway and McKenzie, Joshua Hatcher and wife Shannon, Jessica Gellner and partner Courtney. Sue is loved by great-grandchildren, Jaykob, Millie and Ellie Sue, and loved by many.
Susie was preceded in death by her parents, Foy and Irene Nivens, and Jessie and Ted Platt.
A visitation for Sue will be held Thursday, May 22, 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Dutton Funeral Home, 300 E Cash St, Iowa Park, Texas 76367. A funeral service will occur Friday, May 23, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Dutton Funeral Home.
