

Freddie Joe York was born on May 24, 1938, in Phoenix, Arizona to R.L. And Marie York. He had one sister, Pam Thompson. He graduated from old high school in 1956. He was in the truck stop business and also ran trucks cross country, but his real love was rebuilding old cars. He worked all day at his job and half of the night on his cars. He taught himself how to paint and won many awards. His cars were pictured in magazines, newspapers, and car shows. He became good friends with Darrell Starburgh, a show car promoter, together they rebuilt a car they called the Tasmanian Devil. This car went on the circuit with Darrell for one year.
On December 4, 1957, he married Jo Ann Callaway, daughter of Sam and Odessa Callaway. Together, they raised three beautiful children, Roger York, Chris York and wife Tina, and Renee Cunningham. They gave them 10 grandchildren and Eight great grandchildren, Randy York, Jenny York, Chayce and Sean Bradshaw, Chance and Morgan York, Hayden and Melanie Branch, Alayna York, Ty and Dru Cunningham, Haidyn Cunningham, Hailee Cunningham, Great grandchildren: Peyton, Emma, and Livia, Caden, Acelynn, Jackson, Hadlee, Kaleigh, And fur babies, honey and Benji.
Freddy had many friends that were like family. He loved his family more than anything, and they loved him back.
A visitation will be held at Dutton Funeral Home, located at 300 East Cash Street, Iowa Park, TX, 76367, on November 20, 2025, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
A Celebration of Life will take place at the same venue on November 21, 2025, starting at 2:00 pm.
