Gary was born on April 23, 1961, in San Francisco, California, he was the beloved son of Odis Lee Brackett and Eva Brackett. He competed as a track athlete in Santa Clara, California, after the family moved to Texas he graduated from Rider High School. Gary attended Vernon Regional in 1981 for welding.
Gary had a successful career as a welder for 46 years, working at Washex and Tranter in Wichita Falls, Texas, and concluding his career at Air Tractor in Olney, Texas. His commitment to his work was a testament to his hard-working nature.
On October 19, 2001, Gary married Judy Clifton in Wichita Falls, Texas. He was a devoted husband, a beloved father, and a great friend and family man. His family includes his wife, Judy Brackett, and his children: Christopher Brackett, JJ Halencak, Jamie Peters, and Kayla Gray. He was predeceased by his son, Bryan Brackett. Gary cherished his role as a grandfather to Emileigh, Dylan, Eddie, Elijah, Danielle, Taylor, Addyson, Jayden, Tristan, Rivyr, Haevyn, Olyvia, Imogen, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is survived by three sisters, one brother, and was predeceased by one brother.
Gary was known for his compassion, generosity, humor, thoughtfulness, and honesty. He enjoyed golfing, playing pool, and watching his son Chris play music. He was an active Papa, engaging in his grandchildren's activities and leaving a legacy of family and love.
