Herman Lee Rains

Herman was born March 31, 1933 in Mead, Oklahoma to Pascal H. Rains and Ruth L (Johnson) Rains. He married the love of his life, Shirley Marie (Brott) Rains, on October 8, 1953 in Iowa Park, Texas. Herman and Shirley spent 67 wonderful years together, the only thing that separated them was Shirley’s passing in December of 2020. Herman, with Shirley, owned and operated several business including The Famous Department Store, Shirley’s Flowers, and Shirley Rains Real Estate. Herman was also a Barber in Iowa Park for a number of years. Prior to spending 32 years in Duncan, Oklahoma, Herman was a 30 year long resident of Iowa Park. Once arriving in Duncan, Herman opened City Floral in 1988 with his wife Shirley.

Herman loved many thing in his lifetime, some of those things included; Playing Bingo, Good food and going out to eat, Antiquing, especially if it meant finding a new cookie jar for his collection.

Herman is preceded in death by his wife Shirley Rains; his son Craig Rains; parents Pascal H. Rains and Ruth L (Johnson) Rains; sister Eleanor Miller; and great-grandchild Justin Rains.

Surviving relatives include son Vincent Rains and his wife, Debbie of Iowa Park; son Keith Rains and wife, Terri of Midland, Texas; son Casey Rains and wife, DeLynn of Duncan; grandchildren, Ashley, Brandon, Clinton, Shay, Dustin, K.P., Shawn, Ronna, Chelsea, Kenzie, and his “best buddy” grandson, Taylor; and 23 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Complete Hospice of Lawton, Oklahoma.
