March 16, 1928 – January 31, 2019
Irene (Bridges) Shaw was born March 26, 1928 in Chickasha, OK to George William Bridges and Edna Irene (Watson) Bridges. She was married April 28, 1948 to Harold Herman Shaw in Oklahoma City, OK. Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Harold (3/30/01) and her two brothers, Leon Bridges and Arthur Bridges. She is survived by sons, Jim H. Shaw and wife Sherry (Jacksonville, FL) and Jack W. Shaw (Santa Rosa, CA), grandsons, Austin H. Shaw (Biloxi, MS), Ryan J. Willingham (wife Kelley, Carrollton, TX), Derek A. Willingham (wife Pamela Wong, Houston, TX), and Rachel Zavala (husband, José, Jacksonville, FL), great-granddaughter, Rose Juliet Willingham, and dear friends and neighbors, Wayne and Leann Kuykendall. Irene Shaw was best known for her love of laughter and the joy she found in her family and friends, several of whom she loved as her own family. She could strike up a conversation with any stranger and leave that person touched by her sensitivity and caring spirit. Irene was a skilled seamstress and was involved for several years making therapeutic heart pillows for patients who had open-heart surgery. Upon Harold’s retirement, she spent many years of RV traveling throughout the US and Canada, and although she did not like being the center of attention, she enjoyed showering attention and love on those around her. A longtime member and former trustee of First Christian Church of Iowa Park, TX, Irene was devoted to her faith in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

So many precious memories going to First Christian Church with Irene, and I did her hair for many years at Pauline Steele’s Beauty Shop. She was a very sweet lady. I thought of Irene a lot. She will be missed!
