

Graveside services will be at 2p.m. Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at Highland Cemetery Pavilion with Dr. Ted Spear officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Dutton Funeral Home of Iowa Park.
Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, November 8, 2011 at Dutton Funeral Home Chapel.
James was born April 5, 1929 south of Kamay, Texas to W.R. (John) Potter, Sr. and Olive (Levell) Potter where he was raised and attended Valley View School.
J.W. worked with LeBus Brothers Oil Company from 1947 until 1958 in Kamay and Graham, Texas. From 1958 until 1991 he was employed by Fluid Packed Pump (ARMCo) living in Nebraska, Venezuela, Taft, California, Houston and Gainesville, Texas. During these years he travelled Europe, Africa, Middle East and Far East for a total of sixteen years, retiring in 1991.
Work was always a ‘priority one’; he lived it and did it very well. His pastime was fishing; outstanding, leading the way and bringing home the big ones.
J.W. married Theresa M. O’Mara on September 12, 1964 in Kimball, Nebraska. He fathered a son, John and a daughter, Debby Patterson.
His survivors include, son: John and wife, Shelly of Issaquah, Washington; daughter, Debby Patterson and husband, Mark of Wichita Falls, Texas; siblings, Nina Wilburn, David and Jimmy Potter, Donald and Peggy Potter, Bessie and Ted Scott; grandsons, Wade, Forrest, D.J. and James and 8 great grandchildren and his “best catch”, his wife, Theresa.
His parents and siblings, W.R. Jr., Mack and Patsy Sue preceded him in death.
