Leonard Mayes “Lee” Hale

Leonard Mayes “Lee” Hale passed peacefully in his sleep on March 10, 2025.
Lee was born on August 21, 1937, in Crockett, Texas, To William Mayes Hale and Mattye Dell Barnhill Hale. He grew up in Crockett, Texas, being raised by his mother. Lee was raised in the Baptist Church in Crockett, where he was Baptized.
On March 26, 1960, Lee Married Marilyn Esther McNeil, in Crockett, Texas, and they remained married for 65 years. Two children were born to Lee and Marilyn; Janet Lynn Hale and Brett William Hale.
After graduating from Crockett High School, Lee received his bachelor’s degree from Baylor University. He then joined the United States Air Force until his discharge as a First Lieutenant. Lee then coached at public school in corpus Christi before being sworn into the Federal Bureau of Investigation in 1965. As an FBI Agent, Lee was assigned to posts in Phoenix, Arizona, Los Angeles, California, and Victorville, California, before arriving at his final post in Wichita Falls, Texas in 1976. Lee served as a resident FBI Agent in Wichita Falls until his retirement in 1993.
Lee cherished his family, his church, and the numerous friends that he met throughout his full life.
Lee was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Janet Lynn Hale, and his parents-in-law Fred and Vivian McNeil.
Lee is survived by his wife Marilyn, son Brett and daughter- in- law Kristy, grandchildren Bethany and Bailey, and sister Julie Fowler.
The family will receive friends between 1:00 - 2:00 PM at Faith Baptist Church in Iowa Park on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, with funeral services to immediately follow at 2:00 PM at Faith Baptist.
