Marion L Wilkins

Marion was born in Colo, lowa on April 9, 1933 to Ivo Leslie Wilkins and Ruby (Sawtell) Wilkins. Marion graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1951. He especially liked working with his hands in the wood shop and auto mechanic shop. Marion could fix about anything. Marion worked for Hermann M. Brown and Square D in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and finished his career as a supervisor for WR Grace Cryovac in Iowa Park, TX.

He married Rae Patricia McDermott February 14, 1953. Marion entered the military service (Army) in 1953 and served two years. They traveled many states together enjoying the experience of travel and meeting new people.

After military life they settled in Cedar Rapids, Iowa where he worked for Hermann M Brown, Square D and Cryovac. Marion enjoyed working on cars. He also was an outdoorsmen and enjoyed fishing and hunting pheasants. His hobby was raising Brittany Spaniel Dogs.

In 1975 he moved to Iowa Park, Texas to work at Cryovac. Marion and Rae became members of United Methodist Church of Iowa Park, Texas. and both served in many capacities.

He moved to Elison of Lake Wellington Assisted Living facility in 2022. There he served as one of their Ambassadors.

Marion was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Rae and his son Wayne.

Survivors include his son Kenneth Wilkins and his wife Julie of Hastings, Minnesota, granddaughters Jessica Riveness and husband Luke of Welch, Minnesota, and Courtney Coleman and husband Nick of South Saint Paul, Minnesota and great grandchildren, Charlotte and Lydia Riveness and Sky Coleman.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2025 at 10:00 AM with service to follow starting at 11:00 AM, at First United Methodist Church, 201 E Bank St. Iowa Park, TX 76367, with interment to follow at Highland Cemetery, 862 Rogers Rd., Iowa Park, TX 76367.
