

She was born on October 4, 1945, in St. Louis, Missouri to Wesley and Ilia (Devine) Whiteside. Mary Ann was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Mary Ann had a vibrant personality and a zest for life. She was a devoted fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and the Iowa Park Hawks. Mary Ann was thrilled to witness two Super Bowl victories in recent years. She also had a special admiration for Patrick Mahomes, the star quarterback of the Chiefs.
Mary Ann graduated in 1963 from North Kansas City High School. Shortly after, she eloped with Terry Deatherage. Together, they co-founded Cycle Parts Unlimited in 1968 and Cycle Parts Distributing in 1973. Her remarkable achievements led to her being named Wichita Kansas Business Woman of the Year. In 1983, Mary sold the businesses and relocated to Houston, Texas, where she worked for Ozarka Water and achieved numerous awards for her dedication and excellence.
At the age of 42, Mary Ann faced a challenging time when she experienced a brain aneurysm. She moved to Iowa Park in 1988 and pursued a career in selling life insurance. Mary joined Combined Insurance and quickly became a top performer, earning the prestigious title of Salesman of the Year in her first year with the company. This is where she met the second love of her life, Gary E. Robinson, whom she cherished deeply.
Mary Ann is survived by her loving partner, Gary E. Robinson, and her children, Mishelle Deatherage Shires, Gary Shires, Greg Deatherage and wife Peni, Jeff Robinson, Shana "Boot" Marsh, and Jeff Robinson. She is also survived by her sister, Janet Hayes, as well as her grandchildren, Staci Shires, Kaci Shires, Ashley Whitson, Aaron Gonzales, Dillon Gonzales, Chase Shires, Landon Gonzales, Gerrit Deatherage, Nolan Deatherage, Parker Robinson, and Sophia Robinson. Mary's great-grandchild, Ava Whitson, also held a special place in her heart.
Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents, as well as her brother, Lanny Whiteside, and sister, Phyllis Ficken.
A visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM on Sunday, October 8, 2023, at Dutton Funeral Home in Iowa Park, Texas. The funeral service will take place at 10 AM on Monday, October 9, 2023, at the Dutton Funeral Home Chapel.
