Memorial Services will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at the First United Methodist Church in Iowa Park with Dr. Jon Eckstein officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Dutton Funeral Home of Iowa Park, Texas.
Mary was born October 11, 1926 in Wichita Falls, Texas to Miles Lewis and Cleo Margaret (George) Hines. She and John Andrew Mixon were married May 9, 1944 in Walters, Oklahoma. She lived all her life in Iowa Park, Texas until moving to Nacogdoches, Texas in 2001 after the death of Mr. Mixon. She was a graduate of W.F. George High School in Iowa Park and attended North Texas State College of Denton, Texas for 2 years. She was a former kindergarten and first grade teacher prior to working for Region 9 Education Service Center. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Iowa Park where she was organist for 31 years. She also taught piano for several years. She attended First United Methodist Church of Nacogdoches, Texas.
Her parents and husband preceded her in death.
Surviving relatives include one son, Jerry Mixon and wife, Linda of Nacogdoches, Texas; one daughter, Judy Ann Dye and husband, Mike of Houston, Texas; and one brother, Travis Hines and wife, Jan of Trinity, Texas; 7 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to the First United Methodist Church of Iowa Park, First United Methodist Church of Nacogdoches, or Life Care Hospice of Nacogdoches, Texas.
The family expresses their thanks to Mary’s doctors, Ted Ledget, M.D. and Gary Barkocy, D.O.
