Nancy Jo Miller Gholson, 71, of Iowa Park, Texas, was born on August 15, 1955, to Glen and Helen Miller, the second of four daughters. She went to be with Jesus on October 13, 2026. Nancy’s life was rooted in unwavering faith, unconditional love, and a heart devoted to serving others
Nancy grew up in Iowa Park, a town she proudly called home her entire life. She attended Baylor University and then dedicated more than forty years to her calling as a speech pathologist. With patience, compassion, and a genuine desire to help others, she assisted countless little ones in finding their voices and learning to communicate with the world around them. For her, it was never just a profession, it was a calling and a reflection of her generous, selfless heart.
Nancy and her husband of fifty years, Jerry Gholson, built a beautiful life together, raising their two children and creating a lifetime of memories. They shared a special love for their farmhouse outside of Marlin, Texas, where they spent many weekends enjoying a slower pace, resting, and spending cherished time with their grandchildren. In the last few years she was grateful she got to spend time with her father.
To know Nancy was to love her. She was witty and funny, wonderfully stubborn, and small but mighty—She had a strength that far exceeded her size. She carried a steady ability to find good even in difficult moments, offering a hopeful presence that drew others in. Her generosity was boundless, and her servant’s heart was evident in the way she gave freely of her time, her talents, and her love, never seeking recognition or repayment.
Above all, Nancy loved the Lord. Her faith was not simply something she spoke about; it was something she lived each day. She trusted God wholeheartedly, loved others deeply, and faced life’s challenges with remarkable strength and grace. Her faith was the foundation of her life and a lasting example to all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Nancy found joy in life’s simple blessings. She loved cooking for those she cared about, tending to her garden, getting lost in numerous books, and being involved with her church family. Nothing brought her greater happiness than being surrounded by her family—especially her children and grandchildren. Whether sharing a meal, enjoying a weekend at the farmhouse, or simply being together, Nancy treasured every moment.
Nancy was preceded in death by her mother, Helen Miller, in 2012.
She is survived by her father, Glen Miller of Iowa Park, Tx, her husband, Jerry Gholson of Iowa Park; daughter Emily Gholson Sommerfeld and her husband Casey Sommerfeld of Gatesville, Texas, and son Drew Gholson and his wife Heather of Nacogdoches, Texas; Five grandchildren, Grayson Baker, 22, of Gatesville, Texas; Kannon Baker, 19, of Traverse Michigan; Kelton Baker, 14, of Gatesville, Texas; step-granddaughter Charlie Sommerfeld, 20, of Gatesville, Texas; and Sam Gholson, 14, and Kate Gholson, 12, both of Nacogdoches, Texas; Three sisters, Glena Via of Iowa Park, Tx, Susan Stucki of Kyle, Tx, and Mary Boone of Grand Cane, Louisiana; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to First Baptist Church of Iowa Park, Texas, and Friendly Door of Iowa Park, Texas. Two organizations dear to Nancy's heart.
Nancy leaves behind a legacy far greater than words can express. She showed her family what it meant to love without conditions, to give without expecting, and to trust God through it all. She had such a generous spirit, unwavering faith, and extraordinary love will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to call her wife, mom, nana, sister, and daughter.
