Born on October 7, 1938, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Nancy was the daughter of the late William Pettit and Anna Flounders. She married Marlin James “Jim” Sargent on February 15, 1958, during a memorable Pennsylvania blizzard that turned their wedding into an impromptu sleepover. Their union lasted a loving 60 years.
Nancy dedicated 46 years to waitressing, concluding her career at Ken’s Pizza, in Iowa Park. Raised in the Catholic faith, she lived a life centered around family and service to others. She had a deep love for dancing and found joy in caring for and feeding those around her—no one ever left her home hungry. She embraced her life as a military wife. Nancy adored children, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling to Pennsylvania to visit loved ones and always preferred the mountains over the beach—though she was lovingly known as the best lifeguard in three feet of water. She also found comfort and joy in watching Hallmark movies.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Jim; her son Patrick Sargent; son-in-law Jimmy Pressler; brother John J Pettit; sister in law Jean Pettit and her parents.
Nancy is lovingly remembered by children: Therese Pressler of Iowa Park; Michael Sargent and his wife Gloria of Lexington, South Carolina; Regina England and her husband James of Graham, Texas; and Danny Sargent and his wife Christine of Lubbock, Texas; her grandchildren: Vanessa Hebel, Rowdy Hebel, Melanie Sargent Westhart and her husband Chad, Michael Sargent II and his wife Dani, Misty England Mills and her husband Stephen, Dawn England Sims and her husband Andre, Tiffany Sargent Bell and her husband Carson, ; Dustin Sargent; Casondra Sargent; Bryce Sargent and Peyton Sargent; and her great-grandchildren: Scarlett Westhart; Michael III (Jack) and Olive Sargent; Emma and Katy Mills; Kylar and Kalen Sims; Colton Bell; Mason Newton; and Alyssa Sargent.
