

Nita Rae Dutton passed away on January 15, 2025, at the age of 82. Born on September 17, 1942, in Grand Saline, Texas, Nita lived a life enriched by their passions and connections with family and friends.
A dedicated sports fan, Nita had an unwavering love for the Dallas Cowboys and a deep enthusiasm for college baseball, cheering for the Texas Longhorns and LSU Tigers. A particularly cherished memory was attending the 1977 Super Bowl in New Orleans. Beyond sports, Nita found joy in fishing and had a deep love for the state of Texas.
Faith was an important part of Nita’s life. She was a devoted member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, where she found spiritual fulfillment and a strong sense of community.
On October 11, 1988, Nita married James Dutton Sr. in Lawton, Oklahoma. Their marriage was a source of love and companionship until James’ passing. Nita was also preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd Maxfield and Juanita Shelton Maxfield; sister Judy Maxfield; nephew David Hopkins; and niece Julie Hopkins.
Nita’s legacy lives on through her family: step-son James Dutton Jr.; sister Maryanne Maxfield; granddaughters Kristen Deleon and her husband Victor, and Aleah Dutton; great-grandchildren Victor, David, and Eli Deleon; nephew Russell Hopkins; and nieces Alison Potect and Julie Hopkins.
