Spencer Copeland, a beloved member of his family and community, passed away on September 29, 2026, surrounded by the love and warmth of those closest to him. Born on March 2, 1959, in Seymour, Texas, Spencer was the cherished son of Doris and Ardine Copeland, Sr., who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his brother-in-law William D. Orr; his sister-in-law, Mary “Butch” Morgan; his nephews, Jake and Burton Copeland; and his niece, Heather Marie McCardell.
Spencer was a proud graduate of Iowa Park High School, Class of 1977. Over the years, he worked for several well-known local businesses, including Piggly Wiggly and Shamburger, before spending 19 years with Western Supply. He was a dependable and hardworking man, and those who worked alongside him knew the pride he took in doing his job well.
Those who knew Spencer will remember him most for his gentle spirit, warm heart, and unmistakable sense of humor. He was often described as a big teddy bear, and that description suited him well. He had a way of making people laugh and feel comfortable simply by being himself.
Spencer loved fishing, and there was rarely a fishing trip he would turn down. He also had a soft spot for animals and an especially well-known love of ice cream. These simple things brought him happiness, and they became part of the many memories his family and friends will carry with them.
He is survived by his siblings, Ardine Copeland, Jr.; Juanetta Stone and her husband, Lynn Stone; Matt Copeland and his wife, Sylvia Copeland; and Ann Orr Simon. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly and will forever cherish the memories, laughter, and time they shared with him.
Visitation will be held on October 4, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Dutton Funeral Home, 300 E. Cash Street, Iowa Park, Texas 76367.
