
Admiral Dewey Waters III, 64, of Irmo passed away in his home Sunday, January 24, 2021. He was predeceased by his Father, Admiral Dewey Waters Jr. and his Mother, Mary Waters. Dewey is survived by his wife of 42 years, Marsha Waters and his son, Admiral Dewey Waters IV “Adam” and his wife, Emily. He is also survived by two sisters, Arleen Waters and Eva.
Dewey was a proud graduate of Mercer University, where he was president of Phi Mu Alpha, the music fraternity. He was a gifted percussionist, could play any stringed instrument that he touched, and blessed countless people with his voice. He loved all types of music and said that “music can speak to your heart during times when you are left speechless”.
Dewey was the Minister of Music at various churches through the years, including Dalzell Baptist, Kittiwake Baptist, Springdale Baptist, and First Baptist Irmo. He performed in numerous “Red Stockings Reviews” and lead church youth groups with his wife. Dewey performed at Carnegie Hall in New York City with the Mercer University Alumni Choir. He was also a valued Baritone of the Palmetto Master Singers.
Dewey was a man who loved his family, Clemson Football, Star Trek, and John Wayne movies.
A private graveside service will be held in Elmwood Cemetery in Columbia, S.C. at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 28, 2021. The service will be conducted by Rev. Blair Smith and Dr. C Clark McCrary.
