I worked with Sue at Lake Murray Magazine at The State. She became a wonderful friend and lead by example. I remember fondly the many lunches we had talking about life, her travels and experiences and our hopes and dreams. She spoke often and with utter devotion about God, her love and dedication to her husband and family. It was a privilege and a delight to have Sue in my life. She never faltered in being a graceful and professional lady. Sue was and will always be a one-of-kind individual who can impact so many people just by being herself.

It is with a heavy heart and great sadness that I offer my condolences to the Duffy Family.

Dear Mike and family: Sue was a treasured friend growing up in Jacksonville during our formative years. She was beautiful, unique, a pillar of strength and loved by all, even very early-on! We are deeply saddened by your untimely loss and continue to hold you and yours' close in prayer!
With Love and Warmest Regards; Gretchen and Buddy

Sue was and still is a lighthouse for me, beaming a steady, encouraging light. She was generous with her wisdom and talent, evidenced by her easy-to-read but so-unfluffy editor's letters in Lake Murray Magazine and Reach Out Columbia. "A real class act" is how a fellow writer described Sue, and her life, family, and work reflected that class and humility. Mike and family, I'm holding you close in my thoughts. Please let me know if there's anything I can do for you.

We met Sue in December 2000 while she and Lake Murray Magazine photographers were painstakingly taking interior pictures for a forthcoming issue of the magazine. She was our anchor during that long day. We learned then of her desire to publish her own stories -- and were pleased to see in the ensuing years she did so successfully (we have read two of her books to date and enjoyed hearing her share her approach to story-telling). We will miss her warm personality and the results of her talent.

Mike & family, Our deepest sympathy on the loss of your precious Sue. She was such an inspiration to all who had the blessing of knowing her. She was such a gifted writer.....I couldn't wait to open up The Lake Murray magazine to see what she had written when she was the editor. It usually brought a tear to my eye because it was so beautiful and meaningful. I have read one of her first books, but I can't wait to read all of them now. You and your family will be in our thoughts and prayers in the coming months. George & Gaye Fann
